I thought this was so cute! She probably won't understand half of it, though! :P

Growing Up - A Novel (lol)

After Lorelai had gone to bed last night, Maugro and I were hanging out on the couch and talking about how big she has become. Of course, it's no surprise, but the little things that she does throughout the day make it so... real. Like her ability to reason and understand what we're saying, for example.

About six months ago Maugro started giving Lorelai chocolate milk in the sippy. Oy. It's okay in moderation but she got to the point where she would only drink "choc" milk. She also needed a sippy cup in bed to fall asleep, and guess what it was? :)

I sat her down the other night at the table and gave her a juice glass of chocolate milk. It's significantly less than the 8+ ounces she was getting in the evening. I told her that she has to drink her chocolate milk NOW becuase she wasn't allowed to drink it in bed anymore. She sucked it right down and, unlike the other times I've tried this, she went down without a fight. We're 2 for 2 now and it looks like we're good to go. Yay!

I stuck some presents under the Christmas tree the day before yesterday and the first thing she did yesterday morning was head straight for them. I only had to tell her once, and explain to her that they were for Christmas morning... she never touched them again. Three months ago, it would have been a battle. She's turning into such a great listener! :)

Early AM Fun

Just woke up and got dressed, but in a great mood!

Checking out her HANDiwork. LOL
The result: Reindeer. I didn't even think to give him a red nose... Oh well!
Using those crappy little "glitter paints" that don't do squat. She has fun with them at least. (And yes, that's a santa frog!)

Evening Craft

We did the potato stamping for our evening craft. Lorelai loved it so much! I carved out the potato and she stamped them. We're going to do more tomorrow with some red and possibly stars? Not sure yet! :)

Christmas Pictures Part II

Customized Christmas tree shirt that was made by my friend Jamie. At least she smiled this time. It was windy, though. :(

Christmas Tree Balls - Craft

After an incident with the entire bottle of glitter being dumped out (sigh) we got to do the Christmas balls. :) I was going to do the Christmas tree hands as mentioned in the other post, but I want to get some white cardstock for that. We're all out of it!

She had fun at least. :)

A!

The other scribbles were her practicing the "up" and "down" that I was chanting, lol.

Craft Ideas

Just putting this down for future reference.

-- Potato Stamps: Cut in half, carve out Christmas tree (or other shape), dip into paint and transfer to paper. Add decorative embellishments after drying.

-- Melted Crayon Stained Glass Fixtures: Using a cheese grater, grate old crayons onto a piece of paper. Use green/red colors for a festive feel. Cover with wax paper and iron on low until crayons shards are melted. Remove wax paper and allow to dry. Can do this on clear paper or just on white. Cut paper into shapes beforehand -- stars, trees, etc.

-- Reindeer Head: Cut out handprints for antlers and a footprint for the head/nozzle. Or use paint, though I think we're going to cut it out this year.

-- Christmas Tree Hands: (Stolen from Lydia! :)) Cut out handprints from green construction paper. Do strings of Garland (or dots for balls) with glue and then cover with glitter. (CUTE!)

-- Dyed Christmas Eggs: We still have leftover dye from Easter so I'm thinking we're going to do some green eggs with some white crayon decorations.

-- Gingerbread House: Here is an insanely easy recipe w/ graham crackers. I'm thinking this should be a new tradition in our family - on Christmas eve! :)

Our Schedule

I've very recently put in a schedule so that our day would go by a little more smoothly. Not that anybody gives a crap, but this is more for documentation for later on when I look back. I have an hour of "cartoons" on there. Sometimes it's more, sometimes it's less. I've re-discovered Bob Ross' Joy of Painting TV Show, which I loved so much growing up - not that I watched it a lot, but I loved it when I caught an episode. His chattering is so goofy. This morning he was talking about the birds and other little woodland creatures and how they had babies and how they needed homes. (He was painting a gorgeous forest.) :P Anyway, Lore was totally transfixed, as was I. I'm going to let that be her morning "cartoon".
